ABOUT ME
LIQUID LIGHT
©️ Fátima Vargas
A site-specific performance in collaboration with the Lagos community.
At the invitation of the Centenary of Birth of the Portuguese poet Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, a performative journey is developed with 15 local bodies in order to rediscover the city at night, where light and water merge.
Ideas such as evaporation, disappearance and transmutation arise, realizing that the gaze goes beyond matter.

💡
The poem walks with the feet of the people of the earth. The path is dark until the birth of the words that burst one by one, with stops on live screens and sea benches on the bodies. We hold hands and signal the arrival of morning, in quick circles of crowds that long for your return to the whitewashed walls of yellow and bronze earth - the cicadas don't stop singing.
The hair of the shells washes our feet with the water where the vivid blue tiles are bathed, which flee from the fish tangled in the smiles of the women in the water. The smell of wrinkled hands spreads along the ropes of the boats, pulling the path to continue.
The poem arrives with the feet of the people of the earth.
